Mexico Part I: 5th Avenue

Finally... finally I'm back to blogging after a few crazy weeks. It all started off on Monday, March 2nd when "the recession" really hit home. I went in to work like any normal Monday and immediately realized something was wrong. Things had been tense around the office -- I'm sure many of you have felt this in your work place as well -- but I had remained optimistic. This morning something was strangely different. Around 9:30 I was informed that it was "black Monday." It was my last day at Korn/Ferry. It was a bittersweet day, I liked my job, my friends, even my boss... but as you know photography is my passion! So, it's official... I'm a full time photographer!!

We started off my new adventure with a week long trip to Mexico. My Mom, Dad, Beto and I had planned this trip during the holidays and it was the perfect time to getaway! We enjoyed 7 nights at Barcelo, an all inclusive resort. The weather was perfect except one rainy day, and the time spent with family will be cherished for years to come. I am so thankful for our week away... our week together!!

For blog part I of our trip I thought I would share a few shots from our trip to 5th Avenue in Playa. Enjoy!

Yum! Who doesn't love a little fresh fruit??

It's a tough decision, but someone had to make it...

Mango and Coconut, dang good, did not disappoint!

Haha, I love this shot! Beto hasn't owned a pair of sunglasses since he was like 13 or something... He finally found a pair that fit! Gotta love some purple Prada's. Notice all of us in the shot? :)

I love all the color!

No explanation needed!!

Resort food isn't exactly the real deal we crave... so we HAD to stop and get tacos. mmmm... pastor, my fav!!

Pretty sure I need to blow this up and hang it in my office! I love the next series using this wall!!

Adding to the collection!

I want to go back!!

Check out facebook for more shots on 5th Aveune!!

My First Vlog!!

Hello faithful blog readers!! For Beto's birthday I got him The Flip HD... so of course we had to test it out while planning his party! No frills on this one, but I promise... they will get better! Enjoy!

Home Made Pizzas with LindseyJoy from Lindsey Joy on Vimeo.

*edit: Pizza Crust Recipe
1 packet yeast
1 cup hot water (115 degrees)
2 Tbl. olive oil
3 Tbl. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
3 cups four

*I use a kitchen aid mixer, but can be done by hand.
Pour water into heated bowl and add yeast packet. Allow yeast to activate.
Stir in oil, egg, sugar, and salt.
Slowly add flour to mixer using bread attachment.
Knead in mixer or 5 minutes by hand.
Separate dough in to 4 pieces and roll out.
Allow 10 minutes to rise (I rarely do this, it is thin crust pizza anyway).
Bake for 8 minutes at 400 degrees (for crispier crust allow crust to slightly brown).
Remove from oven and top as desired.
Bake an additional 10 minutes at 450 degrees.
Enjoy!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

What a fabulous day filled with all things us girls love... flowers, chocolate, love notes, romantic movies, date nights, and maybe even a little champagne! Gosh, who doesn't love seeing hearts and the colors pink and red?? Something about it makes our hearts swoon! I love LOVE, the idea of love, and being in love. There's nothing quite like it!

Today was a chill day at home for Beto and I. He let me sleep in, we homemade chocolate chip waffles for breakfast and enjoyed each other's company sans the bling this year. Well... not completely without the bling :) We are celebrating our love in Riviera Maya in March!! I hope you enjoy your Valentine today whether in high style or sweatpants!

And since no blog post is complete without a photo... here we are in MI at Robinette's over christmas.

Ian & Jubliee: Married!

Jubilee is a long time friend of mine... honestly, I can't even remember when we met! All I know is that we grew up going to church together and have all kinds of crazy memories!! Jub was in the same grade as my sister, Alicia, and the two of them were best friends in high school. They traveled to China and Kenya together and both went to Teen Mania as interns after graduating high school. I love the fact that our lives have remained intertwined throughout the years, and that Alicia and I were able to share in the joy of Jub and Ian's wedding! Jubilee was radiant! Her love for Ian is so evident in her smile. He is one lucky guy! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Ian Miller!!
